Jeryl was born an raised in New Jersey but also traveled a lot with her parents. She lived in Oregon, Georgia and Hawaii to name a few, because of her Dad’s unique occupation. Being the daughter of a pro baseball player and having a Mom who was a High School beauty queen and Penn State graduate, Jeryl had some great role models that always encouraged her to be creative and pursue her dreams. As a kid she was a quiet and shy tomboy who was a huge fan of top 40 radio. She would sit in her room for hours listening to her favorite stations trying to catch the songs she loved and make mixed tapes to listen to later. Her record collection consisted of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Queen, Genesis, Pat Benetar, Journey, The pretenders, The Police and many many more. Her first real instruments were a Gibson Bass guitar and a no name drum kit from the local music store.

Following in the footsteps of her Dad, Jeryl was a star athlete in High school and College. Music had to take a back seat until she graduated. Soon after graduation her brother Jay started a cover band and needed a bass player so Jeryl learned all the tunes and that was her first “real” gig. Much to her Mom’s dismay, she came home to see that Jay and Jeryl had turned the garage into a rehearsal studio. She quickly got used to all the noise and became and still is the best stage Mom anyone could ever have. Jeryl and Jay spent every possible hour of free time in there annoying the neighbors and having a blast.

Once Jay and Jeryl got tired of doing covers Jay started writing his own music and they formed a power trio called Superheated. Jeryl played bass for them until she decided to buy her first acoustic guitar. In the comfort of her living room in Elmwood Park, NJ with the tabliture to the Counting Crows album ” August and Everything After”, Jeryl started to teach herself some of their songs to learn some basic chords on the guitar. Singing had also become a new adventure. Hours were spent laying down tracks on a Tascam cassette 4 track and that is were the songs for her first CD “Everything and Nothing” were born. To this day Jeryl does not know how to read music and doesn’t really consider herself a singer. ” I learned to sing so I could just get the songs down on my 4 track. I actually never really thought about if I was a good or not. It was a necessity to try and release all this creativity and these songs I had rolling around in my head”.

Because Jeryl played in her brothers band she was able to jump on his coat tails and land shows at The Spiral, CBGB’s, Kenny Castaway’s, The Bitter end and Downtime. From there she became a promotional monster and was able to book shows at Acme Underground, Arlene Grocery, The Continental and Downtime to name a few. She also played many Pride festivals and entered many music competitions all over the US.

A win at the Cabo Wabo Battle of the Bands at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC started a snowball effect. Her song “I Told You So” caught the attention of NYC radio’s Z100 and also Leslie Gold who is known as The Radio Chick.

From there Jeryl hooked up with producer Jim Ebert to record her second CD “Radio Friendly” at Cue Studios on Virgina . Jim has worked with Meredith Brooks, Butch Walker, Cowboy Mouth, Sophie B. Hawkins and Madonna. Jim made “Radio Friendly” a reality along with her brother Jay, family and friends to support every step of the way.”So Many Things” is the theme song of the California based television show Sidewalks Entertainment. It has been a cable based show until it’s prime time network TV premier On Thanksgiving 2009. Jeryl’s song “19″ is the theme song for the documentary “Sentencing the Victim” that aired on Independent Lens on PBS. ” Stupid” was on the first season of Laguna Beach on MTV. “I Told You So” was a final pick on NYC’s Z100 ” Radio Star” contest and hit # 1 on the Charts at GarageRadio.com . Jeryl has appeared on the Uncle Floyd show and is a featured artist on WNEW Indie spotlight. You can check her out on the Daisy Rock Girl Guitar website as an endorser and is also hooked up by Knucklehead guitar strings. She was “The Peoples Choice” in the “Chicks with Picks” article in Go Magazine and a member of OUTMUSIC. Other current projects are music for an animated series produced by Powerful Beyond Imagination and a theme song called “Addicted to You” for an independent film that will be released some time in 2010. When Jeryl is not busy writing, recording or playing music she is still an avid athlete and is training for her second New Jersey Ride Against Aids on September 24th through 26th 2010.
