Crystal Chappell is the Creator and Executive Producer of Venice. Through her journey as Olivia Spencer, one half of the historic Guiding Light same-sex storyline, Crystal recognized a need for entertainment that reflected gays and lesbians as normal couples living everyday lives. Coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit and tech savvy, it was natural for Crystal to head for the web, realizing the power of web content in the form of a serial. Crystal embraced the creative freedom of writing for the web because it also lends itself to ingenuity in both the production and business models. Her business acumen was honed at an early age, as she played assistant to her developer parents, renovating residential real estate and flipping properties for profit. Through this process Crystal also moved around the United States furthering her keen sense of opportunity, progress, and success.
As an actress, Crystal has elevated her daytime television career for which she remains one of daytime television’s most sought after actresses. Known for her sharp delivery and quick wit, Crystal was awarded the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2002, and nominated in 2005 and 2006. Currently, Crystal is reprising her role as Dr. Carly Manning on NBC-TV’s Days of Our Lives, for which she received Soap Opera Award’s “Hottest Female Star.” She will also play the lead character of Gina, in Venice, the web series.
Crystal has also starred in prime television including a guest-starring role on CBS-TV’s Pensacola, Wings of Gold with James Brolin, USA Network’s Silk Stalkings and one of the top rated episodes of Poltergeist, to name a few. She has also starred in the feature films Lady In Waiting and Bigfoot: The Unforgettable Encounter. Her theatrical endeavors include The Three Sisters, The Balcony, The Twelfth Night and The Comedy of Errors, to name a few.
