Florida native, Kim Turrisi has worked in the film and television industry for almost 15 years. She began her Los Angeles based career in production for Forbrooke Entertainment and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. After a year of on-set production and post production, Kim segued to the development side of the business. First working as a development executive at Columbia-Tri-Star and eventually shepherding many projects in family and sports entertainment for Disney, Viacom and Hallmark.
She has published numerous articles covering women’s professional soccer and softball on the collegiate level for several web sites focusing on women’s athletics. Her early writing career also includes covering the television soap opera industry for several national publications.
Her interest in sports and filmmaking led to her collaboration on production of Between the White Lines. The documentary garnered several film festival awards including Winner: Grand Jury Prize, Indianapolis International Film Festival, Winner: Audience Favorite: DancesWithFilms Los Angeles, Official Selection: Palm Beach International Film Festival.
Her passion for the Otalia storyline with her longtime friend Crystal Chappell, led her to Venice. The two created Venice The Series, which focuses on relationships of all kinds dispelling stereotypes set in a beach community of Venice, California. Turrisi wrote it and will executive produce with Chappell.
Turrisi holds a masters degree in Interpersonal and Intercultural Communications from Florida State University and has several projects she is working on with Chappell. She loves sports and is a diehard college football fan. She lives in the Los Angeles area where she enjoys soccer, softball, kayaking and her two incredible pooches, Duke and Riley.
