MAY FLOWERS
I love flowers....I mean, LOVE them! I've told my husband time and again...Just pick up a $4 bouquet. I don’t need the fancy stuff. I'm easy. Something he already knew. ;) I always have flowers in my house. Of course, my vase is our spare martini shaker, but somehow that seems fitting. Two of my favorite things all rolled into one! We've spent a great deal of time working in our yard. It's been reinvigorating to plant. I've actually used fruit from my trees whilst crock pottering. (I can only spell that word, can’t say it). And, yes, I do talk to my plants. I maybe delusional but convinced that it helps. If nothing else, they don't talk back.
Two of my favorite flowers are my sweet lil buds, Jake and Dylan. Jake is almost as tall as me and his voice is changing. Im waiting for the day I hear him call me Mom but three octaves lowers. He's creative, smart and kind. He had the opportunity to take a private tour of Hearst Castle with his six grade class, but he wanted to volunteer with the Special Olympics which, he thought, fell on the same day. Jake volunteers with these beautiful kids at his school. Fortunately, he had the dates wrong so he can do both. I love his empathy. A mother of one of the Special Ed kids stopped to tell me that everyday Jake says hello and goodbye to her son. It meant a great deal to her. I'm so proud of him.
Dylan is academically soaring! One of the smartest people I know. But he has a loyalty that's hard to find in a child. He's fiercely protective of those he loves. I'll tell you a story. There was a time in the past when Jake was trying to play with another little boy his age that he'd just met. For some reason, the little boy became unhappy and started yelling in his face. Jake just stared at him, shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Dylan tapped the little boy on the shoulder. The boy turned around. Dylan said, "You hurt my brother!". And then he slugged him. Dylan was two. That was one of those....Honey, you can't hit others like that but Way to Go! on loving on your brother! He's precocious. He understands most things the minute I explain it. He loves dinner time when we all sit around the table together and talk about our day. And, he just loves dinner! LOL
Michael and I are enjoying our gardening....in all the forms it has come in.
Hope you're planting beautiful things for yourself and enjoy watching them grow!!
Mwah!
