The Calm After The Storm...And I don’t know what to do....
Yeah, I know. It's supposed to be the calm before the storm..yada, yada....But after imposing deadlines on myself to get a couple of budgets completed and turned in and having met those deadlines, I now have to sit and wait. Wouldn’t you know it, I just suck at it!
I complain about budgeting but it’s a puzzle that needs to be solved...And I like solving puzzles....Or I could hit the lotto and...Nah, I'd still want a budget. I love hearing from people on how to do it....suggesting that I should add 10 percent onto every number. Why not lower the number by 10 and give them the big NO when they ask for more? What’s the point of offering hard numbers and is told to add 10? It's been an interesting NON creative experience to be the one holding the purse strings and seeing the reactions when I say no to even the smallest of purchases. Look, what do you want...Maybe I should go sell some blood and make it happen? LOL I know I look genuinely perplexed when they forge ahead to convince me that this "purchase" will make all the difference. Mind you, these requests usually come in a week before shooting or on set. I've developed a very slow and natural shrug with the added, "Oh well...." And that's that. This is how you build popularity people! LOL
So, since I’m on hold...Again, 2014 could be a very interesting year for OBP....I guess I’ll just plan for Christmas. I was informed that we have 7 weeks? Anyone else feel pressured? I mean, yeah, I want to watch Elf again so I can hear that wonderfully funny elongated burp but the whole "what to get folks" is weighing on me. I’m leaning toward sweets and alcohol...as an appetizer...Not really but I do think you can’t really go wrong with either. My boys are all about gaming so that’s a no brainer. Some donations to some very well deserved charities...ahem; HMI.ORG.....could be the way to go to for some employees and friends.
Well, either way, I’m going to enjoy the holidays. My kids have four weeks off which just seems cruel but we don’t need to bog this very uplifting blog down.;)
My resolution for 2014? To keep evolving and learning....Even if it involves....Budgets.
