Hi peeps,
I really hope it's ok to post here. But I wanted to post a link to a movie with ensuing discussion on here every week.
Please, if you like, what you see, buy it.
I believe, that it's a part of Lesbian visibility to actually see what's out there. But it's also very, very important to support that.
If you don't think, that it's ok to post actual links on here, let me know, and I'll cease to do so.
Well, enoughof the preamble:
This week it's
"The Color Purple"
Love that movie..I never cry, especially not over movies..but I cried over this.

Lol, I don't mind..I just felt really guilty about posting links on here.
What about "The Children's Hour" I'd also recommend "Mädchen in Uniform" because that is a 1958 remake of a 1931 movie..there are a lot of subtitled versions on YT..and yeah, I could actually post the link again..).
It's really interesting, how both movies are only a few years apart but have a very different tone about them.
And to stay TCH focused, to me, it has one of the most engaging, heartfelt love declarations of all time in it.
Because Martha loves Audrey Hepburn's character(forgot the name, shame on me) despite herself..and it is one of the very few love declarations on TV, where there is no intent, no expectation, no hoping against all hope, that the feeling might be reciprocated..
It is a raw and pure declaration.
Shame, that Martha went and got herself hanged/shot in the play right after..because her counterpart did love her back..in whatever way that might have been.
While she might have gotten the both of them into a world of trouble (Yeah,Otalia was conceived by Ellen Wheeler and CC and that movie) the other woman was never abhorred or withdrawing.
Your thoughts?^^

I saw the childrens hour a several years ago. I had never even heard of it before. I thought it was amazing that these actress took these roles. Nowadays its not as big a deal as it was then. I think Turner Classic movies had a month of gay/lesbian movies on. I also say the Killing of Sister York,1968. that was shocking for the time too. I read that it made Susannah York physically sick to do some of the scenes. Dont quote me on that, it might just be internet gossip.
I will look for the recommendations about the stuff on YT.

Hmm, yes I saw both Mädchen in Uniform and The Children's Hour, and the Color Purple for that matter... I agree with the sort of pureness in the actresses texts and movements in Mädchen in Uniform..
Did you know that the director of Loving Annabelle was inspired by that movie? I like the way both movies tread very carefully on the impossible path of love between teachers and pupils. Before watching either movie I never thought I ever find any arguments pro.

I never will in real life, but both movies are very subtle in that aspect.

What about D.E.B.S. as a new way of having fun?

Loving Annabelle- Im afraid that the high school teacher and the student thing ruined the whole movie for me.

The actresses in Mädchen in Uniform, are two of the greatest Diva's of German Film..They actually have a Romy Schneider(the younger one) exhibit at the German Fil museum these days..sorry for the gushing..I just love that movie to madness..^^
I heard about the inspiration for "Loving Annabelle".To me, it seems, that you either love it or not like it at all..I'm also rather part of the latter contingency.
The emotional "superiority" of the younger girl in that relationship, made it seem kind of unhealthy,in my opinion.
I know, some looved it. I guess, I just coudln't get into that dynamic.
I was interested in the Mädchen in Uniform and Children's Hour comparison, because both were high profile movies, around the same time, and yet so vastly different in tone and intent. In the book,Manuela does actually kill herself.
But they chose to change the ending already in the first movie (1931) already.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEmHYDIorzs (which fell victim to the book burnings of 1933,by the way..all copies of that are restored and from broad).I think, that the student/teacher relationships in that Lesbian context can be seen as shutting oneself away in a separate environment, and then love, unexpectedly, does come to strike again.
I looove D.E.B.S!I find it fun, flirtatious and unapologetic:-)
You know, with some things..you don't notice you miss them. With all the trashy fun flicks I've watched with my brother,(Hello, Fast and the Furious?Pairing Mchelle Rodriguez with Vin Diesel= 0 chemistry, gay much?) I never realized that I missed a simple sweet gay love story that was just DEBS..
Now..if we could get a sweet lovin' martial arts movie where the Lady rescues her Lady..^^
I'll catch up on "Sister George" (shame on me,lol) and "Viola de Mare"asap.Thank You so much for these recommendations!!
Lol, I'll just go ahead and beat myself up over having missed out on "The Kids Are Alright"because I was too lazy to get up out of bed for the noon screening at the Berlinale in the meantime..

Room in Rome...
Nice trailer everywhere on the net, but...

Is it just me or...
okay here is my thought..

these women are too skinny for me!

I don't know if that will even be attractive love making scenes to me.

Maybe you disagree?
