Hey all!
So many of us are on a plan or wanting to BE on a plan to eat healthier and work out to get in better shape...for ourselves.
The feedback I received on twitter inspired this group where we can post and tweet each other for ideas (meals and workouts)& encouragement (especially during THAT time of the month when cravings can go buck wild!)
I started on Dec 3. My goal is more about losing inches and 2 sizes than an actual lb amount. Spent my whole life as an active/athletic person so the business of life that has ironically made me less active...has caused changes in my bod that "I" am not happy with. I am getting in shape for me...for my dreams.
It is a daily struggle. Especially for someone who can not cook and doens't like the time it takes to do it then clean up lol.
Working out is not an issue except that I have had 2 ACL surgeries on the same knee so running and jumping take their toll on the body.
Hope we can support each other to success!
((((MUAH))))

oh and I use myfitnesspal.com to keep a food diary (which helps to REALLY see what I am putting in my body...there is an Android and iPhone app too)

I'm going to check out the food diary link - I think its a good idea :-) I just started cooking for myself (which I hate doing) but I'm hoping that by making healthier meals will make me feel better mentally and then I will have more motivation to start working out. I'm not going to jump into both at the same time because it hasn't seemed to work for me in the past :-)

You rock! Let's do this :-)

thank you OGJ for doing this. Its super hard to find support in this tough times..and a lot of the time at least for me..its tougher to hear it from family who just don't understand and thinkes pura chiflason... (yes I have family issues) lol! But as I was..... I am trying to watch what I eat and exercise. I mainly walk jog on the treadmil itssuper cold outside to go to park...in 12 days..I've lost 6 punds...but its super hard to give up my favorite foods ans chocolate sweet bread and tortilla...I have to admit I had a taco today...but only cuz I didn't win the lotto. :) I know...not a good excuse..but eating always makes me feel better.....but I got back on track for lunch..having white steamed rice with wheat crackers a jello n low calorie peach tea. One day at a time one meal at a time..n we can do it! Gracias

YAY!
I am the pickiest eater ever! I don't like my food to touch.
However, I have begun forcing myself to at least eat cereal, a banana or oatmeal for breakfast. yogurt or veggies with ranch for snack, a salami/cheese, honey mustard, tomato, baby spinach sandwich for lunch, caramel rice cakes (which temp cure my sweet tooth, or chocolate chip chewy granola bars)for snack again, then usually a BIG spinach salad with chooped turkey, carrots, celery, tomotos cheese and ranch for dinner. myfitnesspal.com helps me keep track of my calorie take for each of these things. Decide for yourself what your caloric intake should be but to lose 2 lbs a week you have to be NEGATIVE 7000 for the WEEK. That simply means burn 1000 calories MORE than you intake each day. I bought a heart rate monitor/calorie burn counter and my average so I know what my normal calorie burning metabolism is. Knowing this, I can make sure my calorie INTAKE is at a proper level to lose the weight I want. Hope this helps!!
My average workout is 30 minutes long plus abs. I do this 6 days a week. 2-3 days I will do an additional hour of something fun and cardio.
DOn't forget to STRETCH!!

I have been looking for some motivation to reclaim the "Me" I used to be & I think this may be what I need to start that process. I have always been active & involved in just about any sport you can imagine. But work & a car accident seemed to put me in a position where I think I will never be able to recover the me I used to be. To start me on the road to a healthier life I obtained a membership in a fitness center where I do aerobics for 30 minutes & follow that up with weight training. With the weights,I alternate between arms/abs on one day and back & legs the next day. After I am done, I can't lift my arms or move my legs! I am going to try to make it 5 days a week if at all possible.
I use the Calorie Counter app on my Droid to track my caloric intake & can also track calories I burn. This app allows me to track calories by meal using either the bar code scanner or the extensive list of food incorporated in the app. And yes, OGJ, it has an extensive list of food at Chipotle!!!
Hopefully with these tools & the support here, I will be a healthier & happier Hawk in no time at all!

Lost one size in 2 weeks. WHOA!! This whole eating 5x a day, working out 5x a week and eating healthy....ACTUALLY works lol
Of course, the more you have to lose the faster it can go at first. The true test will be when it slows down. I'mma need y'all to keep me going.
How are you all doing?
